Important Events

The islands were first visited by China in the 15th century. China would come and go occasionally, but ultimately had his hands full with other East Asia personifications and couldn't dedicate a lot of time to visiting her.
During the first Sino-Japanese War, she was introduced to Japan, who annexed her islands. As with China, Japan would come and go for brief periods of time. For a time, there were people on the island due to a fish-processing plant being built, but it was later abandoned. She never revealed herself to the people during their stay.
After WWII, the land was transferred to the US government. Instead of being left on the islands, she and her brother were taken to America to be watched over. (Looking back, I realize it's pretty dumb because none of the others were taken to America, but it is what it is.) Because of her naivety and lack of understanding of the world beyond her islands, she thought that China and Japan didn't want her anymore, that she wasn't good enough for them. It's then that her "other self" started to form out of stress and desperation. To this day, her "other self" will still come out when under extreme stress or hopelessness.
In 1972, her islands were given back to Japan and she and her brother returned home. Shortly afterwards, the custody battle between China and Japan started, with Taiwan participating as well. Although Japan technically has control over the islands, she sees the custody battle as ongoing and claims both China and Japan as her parental figures.
19XX: She starts leaving the island and goes between China and Japan. Her brother splits his time between the islands and Japan. They fully take on the monikers of Suki and Sora Deng, a combination of their Japanese and Chinese human names.
November 2014: Suki is reunited with some of her Jima siblings.
Throughout 2014-2016: Not getting as much attention from her parental figures as she wants, Suki starts pimping herself out on a street corner and is eventually picked up exclusively by a man who goes by Mr. X. She eventually stops, but most of her money up until now comes from this time.
December(?) 2015: Suki meets and quickly bonds with Amsterdam (Marijn), and he becomes her best friend.
Sora starts dating 2p!Nyo!Taiwain and she absolutely hates him.
January 6 2016: Suki adopts a St. Bernard she names Fruit Loop from an animal shelter with Amsterdam.
January 20 2016: Feeling ignored, abandoned, and useless, Suki feels tired of living as a personification and transfers the rights over to Sora, abandoning her position to live as a human and wander the earth. She is eventually brought back by her brother, who frantically searched for her for days after she disappeared, leaving only a note behind. (It was really dumb, but it's canon.)
December 10 2019: Portugal "adopts" Suki. Netherlands kind of does as well, but less officially.
December 16 2019: Suki goes on her first date with Seborga.
December 21 2019: Suki adopts another dog, a kuvasz she names Marshmallow from an animal shelter to fill the hole Fruit Loop left.
Unfortunately, I can't find the specific date, but Suki has technically d!ed/stopped living before. It happened with Mr. X who had been mad at her for disappearing after she stopped prostituting herself. She was kidnapped and I believe strangled to death. Because she's a personification, she didn't fully die, but the experience still shakes her up and she doesn't talk about it.
